There is so much going on in the world right now that this Father’s Day post is little later than I had planned, but here it is. This is my roundup of local businesses that have some great gift ideas for dad.
Please remember to check for the latest COVID-19 updates and protocols before visiting any of these businesses in person.
For the dad who is always in style:
COMMONWEALTH MANUFACTURING offers a wide array of shirts from a classic black shirt, to tropical print. Everything is made right here in Winnipeg plus they are fully transparent in their pricing, values, and processes which I love. Their shop in the exchange is temporarily closed due to the pandemic but you can shop online anytime!
CHARLIE’S CHARMED produces wooden accessories. You might recognize them as the guys that make the wood bowties but they also have cuff links, suspenders and a large variety of other products. They do not have their own storefront but check out their stockists page to see where you can buy their items or shop online!
EARTH + HIDE creates high quality leather goods. You can purchase belts, bags, wallets, dog leashes and so much more, and they’re all handmade in Winnipeg. I especially love that he teams up with other local businesses in some of his products and packages like belts and the “Phase 2 Survival Kit”. You’ll usually see him at markets, which are still on hold for now, but don’t worry because you can shop online and get free shipping with a minimum purchase.
For the dad who likes to stay in shape:
WHITE LION ATHLETICS supplies fitness equipment and accessories. They have a large range of items, so many that I can’t list them all here! Whether the dad you’re buying for is new to fitness or has been working out his whole life, you’re sure to find something here that will suit him! Shop in store or online!
KAIZEN NATURALS produces protein powders (including vegan ones) and other supplements. You’ve probably seen me adding their protein powder to my morning smoothies in my Instagram stories because they are a personal favorite. You can pick some up at most grocery stores but check their stockists page for the full list, or shop online!
BODY MEASURE is the perfect gift for dad if he has specific health goals in mind. They do in depth measurements and scans of your body to learn about it’s composition. Based on the results, they put together a plan to help you reach your goals. You can book an appointment online or give them call at 204-691-1887.
For the dad who take his grooming seriously:
HUNTER & GUNN is a local barbershop. They offer all the usuals like cuts, hot shaves and beard trims but what sets them apart, other than the pure quality of their work, is their level of inclusivity and contributions to the community. Book online or head to their website to give them a call.
PEPO CERAMICS makes beautiful, modern ceramics. If the dad you’re buying for this Father’s Day likes a nice close shave, then I suggest you take a look at this high quality, handmade shaving scuttle. Shop for this and the rest of her ceramics online.
BEARD & BRAWN make all natural beard care products. They have oils, creams, balms, washes and aftershaves in a variety of scents so you’re sure to find something that your dad will like. Find it in store at any of these retailers or shop online.
For the dad who likes to cook:
THE HAPPY COOKER is THE place to go in Winnipeg for all your cooking needs. They carry small appliances, bakeware, cookware, accessories, basically everything you’d ever need to put together a fantastic meal. Find them at 464 Stradbrook Avenue (at Osborne).
WOOD & GRAIN WINNIPEG creates one of a kind wood products with a focus on butcher blocks and charcuterie boards. Each board is one a kind and has a feature that stands out from the rest such as the shape, the colours or the grain. Shop in person at select stores, including at the above mentioned The Happy Cooker, or shop online through Facebook. (store locations mentioned on Instagram)
FROMAGERIE BOTHWELL brings together Manitoba’s award winning Bothwell Cheese that we all know and love and a selection of other groceries, the majority of which, are Manitoba made. That sounds like a win-win to me. You can even build your own gift basket or chose from the pre-made options if you’re not sure what to get. If you like to keep it simple and buy flowers for Mother’s Day, a gift basket like this could be a great equivalent for Father’s Day.
Well, that’s it! I hope this list helped you with your Father’s Day shopping. If you didn’t find what you’re looking for and are still struggling for ideas, feel free to leave a comment or get in touch with me and I’ll be happy to help! You may notice that there’s no mention of coffee or alcohol on this one, which are definitely great gift ideas for dad, but my favorites are already all listed in my Mother’s Day blog so head there to check them out!
